Romantic Surprise Proposal at Bellingrath Gardens | Anatoly + Allyson

There is something so exciting about photographing a surprise proposal. From the careful planning beforehand to the emotions that unfold in just a few seconds, it's one of my favorite milestones to capture.

When Anatoly reached out to me, he knew he wanted to propose at the beautiful Bellingrath Gardens. His vision was simple: find a location that felt peaceful, romantic, and a little more private so they could truly enjoy the moment together.

After looking through the gardens, we chose one of my favorite hidden gems—a picturesque stone stairway tucked away among lush greenery and natural rock walls. The secluded setting offered the perfect amount of privacy while still showcasing everything that makes Bellingrath Gardens so beautiful.

As they walked toward the staircase, I stayed nearby, blending into the gardens while pretending to photograph the scenery. When they reached the perfect spot, Anatoly got down on one knee and asked the question she had been waiting to hear.

Her reaction was priceless. She was completely surprised, and the joy on both of their faces made for some of the sweetest moments to photograph. After she said "yes," we spent time exploring the gardens together, capturing their first portraits as an engaged couple among the winding paths, vibrant greenery, and peaceful garden scenery.
