Rainy Gulf Shores Elopement | Dara + Matthew

Rainy Gulf Shores Elopement

Dara + Matthew

Are you worried about it raining on your wedding day? Have no fear!! The best thing you could possibly do, is EMBRACE IT!!

I know that you have been planning your big day for quite some time and you have every detailed planned and then when you see a threat of rain, you loose your mind! Which is COMPLETELY normal and understandable!! I’m here to tell you, that a little rain can be a beautiful thing and not something that ruins your wedding day experience.

Dara and Matthew were so filled with joy that they were marrying one another that they didn’t care about the rain at all! They were SO calm and happy! They surely did not plan on it raining during their elopement in Gulf Shores. But, what did we do? We EMBRACED the rain and took some stunning wedding photos on the beach!! Since it was raining, we had the beach to ourselves which meant no worrying about random folks in the background! YAY!!

HOW do we embrace it?

If you are getting married in a rainy month in Alabama (which lets be honest, they are all rainy months here), then buy a clear umbrella NOW!! You can be even MORE prepared by buying several umbrellas. Then, the groom, the bride, the photographer (although I already own one), and your bridal party could ALL be included in fun wedding day portraits outside in the rain!

This is the perfect clear umbrella to buy: Amazon Clear Umbrella

I am definitely NOT suggesting to go outside in the rain during a crazy thunderstorm!! Just a little drizzle. It can make for some really unique wedding day portraits!

I totally understand that you may be thinking that I am crazy and you would never dream of going out in the rain in your wedding dress! If rainy portraits are not your thing, there are still other ways you can embrace the rain!!

#1 STAY CALM!

If you, the bride and groom, are not freaking out about the weather then chances are that your bridal party, family, and guests will match your vibe.

#2 have a backup plan ready

You can talk with your venue and coordinator in advance about how rain will be handled. Will you have to have a tent on hold or can the ceremony / reception be easily held indoors?

#3 Be prepared

There are some things you can do / buy in advance to make sure that you are prepared for some rain. Besides a clear umbrella, you can buy hand towels for guests to be able to dry off a little, rainboots for you to wear, fabric protector for your dress hem, and an emergency makeup kit.

I hope these tips help you to not stress about your wedding day weather, but instead embrace whatever comes your way!
