Veranda at the Preserve Wedding | The Akeys
Some weddings feel like stepping into a storybook, and this beautiful celebration at Veranda at the Preserve was exactly that. With a soft palette of fern green, ivory, and white, every detail embraced a romantic garden party aesthetic that was elegant, timeless, and full of personal touches.
From emotional first looks to meaningful family traditions and a dance floor that stayed packed all night, this wedding was a beautiful reflection of the couple and the people who love them most.
One of the things I loved most about this wedding was how involved the bride was in creating the vision for her day. She poured so much time and creativity into handmade details that made the celebration feel uniquely theirs. From a custom monogram used throughout the wedding to beautifully personalized cornhole boards for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour, every element reflected their personalities and added an extra layer of thoughtfulness to the day.
The soft garden-inspired color palette paired perfectly with Veranda at the Preserve's natural beauty. Fresh white and ivory blooms mixed with lush greenery created an atmosphere that felt light, airy, and effortlessly elegant. Every space was filled with timeless details that complemented the venue's charming outdoor setting.
One of the most emotional moments of the day happened before the ceremony during the bride's first look with her dad. As soon as he turned around and saw his daughter in her wedding dress, emotions took over. There wasn't a dry eye nearby as they shared a heartfelt embrace and took a quiet moment together before the festivities began.
Not long afterward, it was time for another unforgettable first look.
When the groom turned to see his bride for the first time, his emotions immediately showed. Tears filled his eyes as they embraced, laughed, and soaked in a few private moments together before the ceremony. First looks like these are always so special because they allow couples to experience the excitement of the day together while creating memories they'll never forget.
The ceremony itself was centered on faith, family, and the commitment they were making to one another. One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was when both families gathered for a prayer over the couple. It was such a powerful moment as loved ones surrounded them, asking for God's blessing over their marriage and the life they were beginning together.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a beautiful reception filled with thoughtful details and meaningful traditions.
One of the highlights of the evening was the bride's cake pull, a Southern wedding tradition shared among many of her closest friends. Before the wedding cake was served, several ribbons hidden beneath the cake each revealed a charm when pulled. Every charm symbolizes a different blessing or prediction for the future—from love and prosperity to travel, good luck, and future milestones. It was such a fun tradition to witness and one that added even more personality to the celebration.
Another unique touch was the live wedding painter, who spent the evening capturing the ceremony scene on canvas. Watching the painting come to life throughout the reception was such a memorable experience for guests and created a beautiful keepsake the couple will treasure for years to come.
As the sun began to set, we stepped away for a few quiet moments together to capture sunset portraits. Golden hour at Veranda at the Preserve is always beautiful, and the soft evening light perfectly complemented the romantic garden setting. These portraits became some of my favorites from the entire day, capturing that peaceful feeling that comes after the excitement of saying "I do."
The celebration continued late into the evening with a packed dance floor, nonstop laughter, and family and friends celebrating every moment with the newlyweds. From the first dance to the final song, the energy never slowed down, making for the perfect ending to an unforgettable wedding day.
