There are few moments more exciting than a surprise proposal, and this one at Bellingrath Gardens was absolutely magical. With the rose garden in full bloom, vibrant colors everywhere you looked, and one very surprised bride-to-be, it was the perfect spring day to begin their forever.
When planning a proposal, choosing the right location can make all the difference. The groom-to-be knew he wanted somewhere beautiful, romantic, and unforgettable, and Bellingrath Gardens delivered exactly that. The rose garden was bursting with colorful blooms, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for one of the biggest moments of their lives.
As they strolled through the gardens together, she had no idea what was about to happen. When they reached the perfect spot among the blooming roses, he dropped to one knee and asked the question that would change their lives forever.
Her reaction was priceless.
Completely caught off guard, she couldn't stop smiling, laughing, and saying "yes!" The excitement on her face was contagious, and it was obvious she was overwhelmed with happiness. Even after the proposal, she kept giggling and saying, "I can't believe we're engaged!" Hearing those words over and over made it clear just how special the moment was.
After taking a few minutes for them to soak everything in, we spent the rest of the session exploring the breathtaking grounds of Bellingrath Gardens for their first portraits as an engaged couple.
One of my favorite parts of photographing proposals is capturing the joy that comes immediately afterward. The nerves are gone, the excitement is fresh, and couples are completely wrapped up in the fact that they just got engaged. Every smile, laugh, and glance feels genuine because they're still living in that unforgettable moment.
As we wandered through the gardens, we stopped at some of Bellingrath's most beautiful locations, using the colorful flowers, winding pathways, towering oak trees, and lush greenery as backdrops. Of course, we also made sure to capture plenty of close-up photos of her beautiful new engagement ring, which she couldn't stop admiring.
Spring is one of the most beautiful times to visit Bellingrath Gardens. When the roses are in full bloom, the gardens become even more vibrant, making the Rose Garden one of the most romantic places on the property for a proposal or engagement session.
