Ian's Birth Story
Ian’s Birth Story
Let’s start from the beginning! I was super excited to be a mom and it’s something I’ve always dreamed of! But what I was not ready for was the actual process of having a baby!! So, as Ian’s due date approached I got more and more nervous thinking about what all was about to take place. Once COVID really hit our area and hospitals were limited on the number of guests that could be with you, my decision became really clear. I opted to have a scheduled cesarian section. I do not regret my decision at all!!
The morning of our scheduled c section, I woke up super early full of nerves. We spent the morning packing last minute items and taking in our last moments as just husband and wife, not parents. Since my family would not be allowed at the hospital, they came over in the morning to pray with us and send us on our way.
My family is and has always been super close to one another. Them coming over to pray with me was really special and helped to calm my nerves knowing God was protecting me and Ian. From that moment on everything else seemed to happen very fast. Suddenly we were at the hospital, in a room, hooked up to an IV, and talking to doctors about the plans.
Since I knew I was having major surgery before going into the hospital I was told not to eat or drink anything past midnight. As a pregnant woman, that was hard!! I was super hungry waiting for the moment to come that I would meet my precious little baby! While waiting to go into the room, my parents called Austin and told him to look out the window. They were sitting in the parking lot with signs and balloons supporting us in the best and only way they could in that moment! It probably seemed silly to others that they were just sitting in the parking lot, but them being there meant so much to me!
Soon enough, I was brought back into the room that I’d have my son. They gave me an epidural and prepped me for what was about to take place. The doctor walked in the room and told me how nervous Austin looked. He was pacing back and forth and could not sit still. She actually asked me if I thought he would pass out, so they brought him a chair to sit in just in case! I remember being so happy to see his cute face in his scrubs when he walked into the room.
It seemed like two seconds after Austin sat down that Dr. Frame was telling me Ian was here. She was holding up his sweet body as he was screaming away! Those baby screams were so sweet to hear! Knowing he was alive and well and breathing!!
Ian’s birth story is definitely not how I always imagined it would be, but it was perfect the way it happened!!
